Are you an Indian passport holder planning your next trip abroad?
Do you already have a US visa, or are you planning to apply for one?
The rules can be confusing, often requiring hours of research and navigating between government websites to find all the necessary details.
But with the right information in one place, it’s much simpler to book that long-awaited trip.
Indian passport holders rank 76th on the 2026 Henley Passport Index — but a valid US visa unlocks 28 additional countries without extra paperwork.
This article explains which countries you can visit and under what conditions, considering you hold a valid US B1/B2 visa before entering.
There are three different visa/access types: visa-free, visa on arrival and transit access, and each comes with different rules and limits.
The table below clearly outlines eligible countries and explains their visa requirements to help you prepare for your trip and avoid unexpected complications and heaps of paperwork.
Updated April 2026: Three things have changed since the start of the year. Nicaragua moved to e-visa only (14 Feb 2026). Malaysia’s 30-day visa-free policy was extended through December 2026. The Philippines rule is 14 days, not 30 — even though most blogs still get this wrong.
Important things to note:
- A US visa must be valid at the time of travel
- Some countries require a multiple-entry US visa
- Some may require the US visa to be used at least once
- The immigration officer makes the final entry decision

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my US visa need to be used at least once?
For most countries on this list, no — an unused US visa in your passport is enough. But Panama and Albania explicitly require your US visa to have been used at least once, meaning there must be a US entry stamp in your passport.
Can I use a single-entry US visa?
For most countries, no. Mexico is lenient, but Panama, Bahamas, Belize, Georgia, and Albania explicitly require multi-entry US visas. Since B1/B2 tourist visas issued to Indians are multi-entry by default, most travellers are fine — but check your stamp before booking.
What if my US visa expires during my trip?
Most countries only require your US visa to be valid on the date of entry into their territory, not the entire duration of your stay. Peru and Costa Rica are exceptions — they require 6+ months validity remaining on arrival. When in doubt, avoid travel when your US visa is close to expiry.
Does a US Green Card work the same way?
Usually yes, and often better. Every country on this list accepts US permanent residence as equivalent to or stronger than a B1/B2 visa, and some grant longer stay durations for Green Card holders specifically.
Which country offers the longest visa-free stay for Indians with a US visa?
Peru offers the longest stay at up to 183 days, followed closely by Mexico and Costa Rica at up to 180 days each.
Can I visit multiple countries on this list in one trip?
Absolutely. A common multi-country route for Indian travellers is Mexico → Belize → Guatemala (Central America loop), or Serbia → Bosnia → Montenegro → North Macedonia → Albania (Balkan circuit). Just track your CA-4 days carefully — 90 days is the combined cap across Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.
